Anthony Abbate is a Santa Fe-based artist who has been creating art for over 30 years. Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1949, Abbate studied fine arts at Rhode Island College. His work explores the relationship between realism and abstract, as seen in his popular series on cacti titled "Cactus, Cacti, and Cactuses." Abbate's attention to detail invites the viewer to study each composition carefully. His stand-out piece "Thicket" is a favorite of his cactus series. In addition to his cactus series, his "Juicy Fruit" series has become a popular collection in corporate and private businesses and homes, with "Ghost of Papaya Past" being a standout piece. Abbate has also released a Floral series and Buddha series at Abbate Fine Art in the summer of 2011.
